But also with a fresh folder I still had problems, and when I finally got it to work it was after trying to open it like 20 times. I'm assuming it was *something* in my old Sims 3 folder, because no matter how many times I tried to open it before, the game wouldn't open. until I kept trying to force it to start and it did. Then I exited the game to slowly put my files back in (just the saves and downloads) and the problem came up again. Then, in a fit of frustration, I kept trying to open it over and over and over until it randomly started (I replaced the new "Options" file with the old one so that the game wouldn't come up full-screen). I had to forcefully restart my computer because the game was full-screen and I couldn't tab out of it. But when I pressed play with a new Sims 3 folder, the game came up as a black screen.
But when I selected "repair game", Origin said the folder did not exist (my Origin game folder is empty? Despite me having bought a couple games on Origin and me seeing the games on the "Expansion and Stuff" tab on the Launcher). Thanks for the help! I got it to work, sort of. Now move (not copy) the folder named The Sims 3 to your desktop.
